About Us
Our History
The origins of Petite Maison Montessori date back to 1997 when it first began as a Saturday school and French summer camp. Our founder Roula Porcelli used her Montessori training to teach French in a fun and interesting way and upon seeing the drastic improvement in children’s abilities to grasp French, we decided to open our doors full time in 1999. Since then, PMM has grown and flourished into a multi -lingual Montessori school that is recognized as a reliable, trustworthy, safe, and loving environment that cultivates each child’s maximum potential. The introduction of languages from an early age promotes multilingualism and opens endless doors of opportunities for your child in the future. In 2022, Navjot Kaur assumed leadership of the school, infusing her role as the Executive Director with enthusiasm to guide the school forward.
Our Staff
At Petite Maison, our incredible team of teachers, specialists, and support staff are the heart of our school community. Our teachers serve as gentle guides, deeply attuned to each child's path. They curate personalized lesson plans and observe with keen eyes, nurturing the holistic development of every learner. Our teachers are certified Montessorians, ensuring a strong foundation in Montessori education principles. We're committed to ongoing professional development, regularly attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences throughout the year. We also believe in the power of mentorship, encouraging our staff to share knowledge and learn from one another.
Accreditation, Licensing & Facility
Petite Maison is proudly accredited by the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) and has been licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) since 1999.

Being a licensed childcare center means we undergo annual inspections of our Fire, Health, and Safety practices. It also ensures adherence to provincial standards concerning staff/child ratios, the physical environment, staff qualifications, and children's health and well-being, among other quality-related aspects of licensed childcare centers.
Since 1999, Petite Maison has proudly run its program from the historic Don Mills United Church at 126 O'Connor Drive. Within our facilities, you'll find over 5000 square feet of security-monitored space, housing three spacious classrooms adorned with stunning stained-glass windows and bathed in natural light. Our outdoor amenities include a fully fenced and rubberized playground, where our children enjoy safe and engaging play. Moreover, our little ones actively tend to their garden, fostering a hands-on connection with nature.
